Best finish to get?

I have seen the smooth black finish and while it's very pretty I don't like how it gets fingerprints and how they're hard to clean off. Does the gray finish have this problem as well? What about the black matte? Thanks.

... clean off...

I never have time to clean the outside of my cameras, I keep the optics clean for obvious reasons, but the rest I don't touch - it's a tool for taking pictures, what it looks like is unimportant.

Oh. and because I don't own a Leica, I don't have to worry about cleaning the Red Dot! 😀

I have a Bessa-R4A, which only comes in matt black finish. And I don't like the finish very much, because even slightly greasy marks show up really badly and it gets a greasy shiny look very easily - it looks like a shiny black suit. (But I had no choice, and I love the camera regardless)

A few coats of car wax like McGuires#26 (a true wax) a week apart topped with NuFinish (a polymer finish) will do your car and camera proud.

If it holds up on a car, it certainly will hold up on a camera.

Works on lenses too, not the glass part.

My sentiments exactly. Stupendous camera but the matte black is totally impractical. Presumably some dingbat in the marketing dept. thought it was cool.
