I have a A7 coming tomorrow and want to get a lens adaptor for my SLR lenses.
What is the best for the price? Mainly Nikon glass but may get another one just to try some different lenses.
Thanks

If I were to buy one today, I would narrow my choices to these three: Novoflex, Metabones or Rayqual (sold by our head bartender).
First question: Do you have or plan to get 'G' lenses? The Nikon G to NEX adapter will work for both G and non-G lenses.
Second question: Do you want/need a tripod mount with the adapter?

I just returned a Metabones LTM adaptor. The thing scraped deep scratches on my lens mount. Not cool.

I do not have or plan to get G lenses...just regular F.
I would like a tripod mount for longer lenses but would not have it on all the time.

I've heard that anecdotally from some owners, but I've heard positive reviews from a great majority. Still, it may be enough of a concern to disqualify the Metabones.

What you may consider is just putting an L plate on the body rather than a tripod mount on the adapter. Then it's really a matter of flipping a coin between the Novoflex and Rayqual. The Novoflex is more expensive.
Note that, as with anything that is machined, you will get sample to sample differences, but in general both have performed well.

I've tried Metabones and Rayqual adapters... they've been fine, but expensive. The adapters I have now are the medium-cheap Kipon and cheap Fotodiox adapters. They've worked perfectly and I've used many of them over the past few years.

Based on my experience with the [Nikon F] Rayqual adapter for the Ricoh GXR
I wouldn't hesitate to get one for the Fuji X-T1, my go-to camera now.
Fit and function perfect.

I've got a Kipon Nikon to E-mount adapter. It works, but that's about it. The lens release catch is undersized, so the Nikon lenses rotate about 1mm left/right in the adapter.. and the lens release slot on the Sony side of the adapter is oversized, so there's about 1mm slack there as well. All in all, there's about 2mm play both ways.. Suffice to say, it's not my favorite piece of kit.
In contrast, an ultra cheap no-brand M-mount to E adapter that I use for my M-Hexanon fits perfect in every way..

With SLR glass on my Sonys, I use the LCD screen, focus peaking, and focus magnification, and I'm mostly shooting portraits. Therefore, ultimate precision is not so important to me. I use the $30 adapters from eBay with terrific results.

for M mount adapters, either the Voigtlander VM-E or Shoten.
I had the Novoflex and was getting light leak between the adapter and lens.
for OM, AI-S, FD I just used the cheap 20-30$ you buy on amazon or ebay and can't complain, don't use them very often though nor use them for long exposure shots

Even if you do not have, or plan to get, "G" type Nikkor lenses, the "G" type adapter may be a good idea if you shoot hand-held a lot. On Manual Focus lenses, you can preset the f/stop on the lens with the aperture held open by the adapter to focus, then flick the stop-down lever on the adapter to shoot.
