Best looking AF cameras

I also liked the EOS-1 RS a lot...

Nikon F6.
Because it both
- looks very good with very well proportions
- has an ergonomically perfect design, fits excellent in the hands of the photographer and is such a joy to use.

Another vote for the Contax G2...champagne
Takes beautiful lenses, too ... 45mm f2 Planar with its cute little barrel hood=wow!

Contax n1 if you asked me.
Kept all the analog controls and dials yet with very smooth muscular lines and an awesome grip.
Only a few primes though including a planar f1.4/50mm and f1.4/85mm.
It's too bad They never got around to a Distagon 28 and 35 before ending production.

When hearing "classic" my first thought is some one of the Minolta, since as far as I know, they pioneered satisfactory working production models. But since you mention Contax, had you ever tried the Contax AX? That was the model that focused by moving the back. As I recall, that allowed any lens you could mount to be auto-focused.

I've just bought a Contax G1 and it's absolutely lovely. Solid as a rock, feels great in the hand and beautifully finished.

What's with all the moaning about the focus and 'tiny finder'? Mine locks on much faster than I can manage with my M2, and the finder doesn't have any distracting frame lines. I can see the Leicas sitting on the shelf for a while...

...until the G1 bricks! ;-)

Yes, I did try the AX.
Having long been a Yashica and Contax user, I tried them all.
The AX was a big meaty body and way over thick.
The idea of body moving film plane and a built in extention tube was novel at best.
The truth was this solution for af was really a stretch.

One thing with Contax is the continuity of control layout all the later bodies.
The AX shared that continuity but was this big bulbous beast. It was a lot like other models if you did not use the AF. It did nit compare well to other models.
I returned mine as I just could not get along.
The AF system worked ok but I preffered the focus scale in the Slimmer RX model which I had already been using for years.
The RX scale showed focus point and DOF in the viewfinder.
It was pretty accurate With the 50mm len(s) although not AF.... a much more elegant solution.

The Contax bodies had great analog controls. Fuji has taken that space in Digital cameras.
