I'm considering a fixed lens compact for low light use. I have a DP2M and a GRD IV. I love the GRD and was thinking of getting the GRD V, but then the RX100 has been catching my eye. I thought it might be good to have the zoom on the Sony, but it's not too important. Any recommendations between these two or other options would be welcome.
Thank you
Chris

How "compact" are you looking at?

The GM1 isn't a fixed lens compact, but you can pair it with a F1.4/F1.7 lens and it will still be pocketable. So you get the lens speed of the RX100III with a larger sensor.

The LX100 isn't really compact but has excellent low-light performance, as is the GR digital. The RX100 suffers a bit because of the high MP count, but the lens is plenty fast at the wide end.

I would go w/ Ricoh GR (apsc version) for lowlight.. If u don't mind bigger size then Fuji x100t would be something I would consider.

Thank you gentleman. I'm leaning towards the Ricoh because I have the GRD IV and love everything about its feel, layout and images. There's a used GR At a local shop too. I'll have to look at a Fuji in person before I decide. Is it specifically the Xt Gary or any of the x100s that would work well in low light?

Depends on the definition of compact, but Sony RX1/R is the best in image quality as long as it qualifies. It may require use of manual and/or pre focusing, though.

The t version is a bit faster af mainly. Only marginally better in terms of high iso if I remember correctly. Of course f2 vs f2.8 for any given iso. The gr has advantage of snap focus when light get to low for good af..

Actually i was going to also recommend the rx1 but remembered the price on it. For me, for the price, I would rather go bigger and get an a7mk1 w/ either 35f2.8 or 55f1.8 fe lenses..but that just me. Sure ain't going to beat the gr or rx1 for compactness by a long shot..

All three are, but the T is best at Af in low light. Very good IQ for the size of the bodies, but what you gain is marginal compared to GRD. The GRD is a stop slower but that's about it.

I'd say for the X100T's price a used RX1 is the way to go...not that much different in both size and cost

The Sony A7and the RK are a bit much $ for me now. I am thinking more compact, fixed lens P&S category. Although I've considered a used Nex with a 40/1.4 Nokton as well.

A bit late to the party, but I would recommend the Panasonic LX100. M4/3 sensor in a very small packet - the sensor is not utilised completely due to the small lens, but the low light performance is almost on par with the GH3 and 4.
