Best LTM 50mm?

Best LTM 50mm? The only one I have in my possession (other two are @ DAG). I'm more concerned with how to use the lens than how the lens can use its reputation to take pictures. My twopence.

The question is about the "best" 50mm lens in LTM but it seems that people rather comment on their favorites, which actually is more meaningful since the opinions are based on lenses used by these people. I prefer a Nikkor 5cm/2 over the Canon 50mm/1.8. My new favorite is on the way back from DAG. It is a Zeiss Sonnar 5cm/2 made by Zeiss in LTM for Sweden. I am told that it is one of 200 made for Sweden. Hopefully, it will have its own fingerprint. That's what I look for.

There is no best 50mm LTM just as there is no best sex. It may be necessary to mount a bunch of different prospective candidates and try them out before deciding which one best suits your fancy. Ergonomics as well as esthetics are a matter of personal preference. All recommendations by others should be taken with a grain of salt. Only your opinion matters.

Careful, Joe. I thought you were supposed to be taking it easy right now. I can appreciate what you are going through. About 12 years ago, I was fitted with two mechanical heart valves. It took a while to get comfortable with the fact that nothing would ever be quite the same again.

I have 11, does that make me an expert? 😀

Oh, I am talking about 50mm lenses by the way.

My "best" 5cm LTM lens based on my own preferences is the Summicron 5cm Rigid first version. It has given me consistently excellent sharp results. I am doing a flare and contrast comparison (see Gallery) of eight LTM/M lenses. The Canon 50/1.2 surprised me pleasantly.
