I don't want to believe it either, but I've experienced it.
DNG "raw" is essentially uncompressed (or lossly-compressed Huffman encoding) TIFF with extra metadata. And TIFF is essentially (unadultered) JPEG at its core. It is my strong suspicion that some interpretation of the "raw" image is done before rendering the JPEG (that is the TIFF) that is in the DNG
I am, however, not an authority on this; just talking out of experience...
I should try a very controlled session for shooting various WB settings in various conditions. But -- oy! -- it'll be a drag. There will always be the Internet skeptic...so I often wonder "why bother?"
