Sweeping through town this AM. 12 frames left in my camera and need a couple of fresh rolls. Will hit a pharmacy if I must, but I'd rather get to a real photo store for the wider selection (looking for xp2 and portra).

I just carry an extra card a battery.
As a last resort, very last, I would erase the very worst images in camera. This is a very bad practice as it leads to fragmented files, but if you have the shot of a a lifetime and no film (space) left, do what you gota do.
Cards hold a thousand images and I can not do a thousand images worth anything in a week anyway.

i'd love to be able to use an sd card as a backup in my m4 but the hybrid camera has yet to be invented!

Thanks for the suggestions. Will try the lomo since it is closer to my location and check prices. Been to Calumet before and the prices were good. I had forgotten about them, thanks for the reminder.
froyd, lomos film prices are very high.
