All;

I'l looking for some additional SDHC cards for my Leica M8.2. I have a couple of Sandisk Extreme III 8GB SDHC, but they're about a year old, and now Sandisk has out (at an additional premium), Extreme III SDHC 30MB/sec. cards.
Are they worth it? Will my .DNG files read/write faster with these cards? Does the I/F in the Leica allow for those write speeds?

Thanks

Brad

I purchased Sandisk II from Buy.com at a great price and they work great.
M8 is not a High speed shooter, so any one will work great, a II or the III if you want to pay extra and it will not work any faster than a II in the M8. Don't get carried way with speed. This is not a canon or Nikon.

You are right, but remember, the speed is very important when you put the card in a card reader to load the pics to the computer.
8 Gigas in a slow card can take a lot of time.

I don't understand his thing with bigger and bigger cards. Shooting RAW a 4gb card holds the equivalent of TEN 36-exposure rolls of film! Much much more with JPG. What's the point of bigger cards?
Frankly with that much on a card I'm a little concerned about putting too many eggs in one basket, if you know what I mean.

Always seems like a good idea at the time, plus when you put a loaded card in the reader, it does take a bit of time to look at all the files.

I moved the files to a WD usb hard drive, a friend files his 2 GB cards, who knows, they might be more durable as archival storage?
