Canon LTM Best way to sell Canon rangefinder + lenses?

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
If it is all too confusing and you have many offers for one item, you could put the names in a hat and pull the lucky one out! Failing that ask one of the "non interested" to help -that rules me out!

Kim

rob, one way is to look at the p.m.'s you receive and in what order you received them.

exchange payment/shipping info, wait for the cash and then ship out the items.

joe

What Joe said. You've got the PMs in the order in which they arrived. Simply go through them. I think every piece has been spoken for at least once. Try to find the first offer to buy at your asking price. If none of the offers for a particular item are at your asking price, choose the highest offer and decide if you want to sell that item at that price. Just go through it step by step. Good luck! (No pain, no gain.)

i almost made this it's own thread because of the nature of the 'miracle' that just occurred.

rob sent me the 28mm lens on thursday and IT WAS JUST DELIVERED!!!
2 days later! and ya wanna know why?
no friggin' customs involvement!!
damn!!!!!!!!!!!!

the lens arrived and needed a cleaning but it cleaned up very nicely. the stuck filter came unstuck with a firm twist of my wrench, the mouse pad did not work on this one. this lens HAS filter threads while my other 28 (which is older) does not.
the finder also cleaned up well but i am sad to report that this finder has a small nick in the front glass and, while not as annoying as the first finder, IS somewhat annoying. but i cannot complain as the price was excellent and the delivery was damn phenomenal.
it also came with canon front cap (which at 34mm is damed cute) and rear caps plus original case.

all in all, a much better deal than i got from the australian antique company that i bought the first one from. (may they rot in a very warm place...:))

that stuck filter has some chips in it and is not usable as a uv filter but i thought i'd take the glass out and keep the ring on the front threads to act as a mini hood.
any thoughts as to taking the glass out, as in how. i see no retaining ring.

just break the glass and remove?

joe

Spring clip in the back?

There has to be a way. They couldn't have moulded the glass in situ.

I have seen 3 methods. The usual is the ring on the front with the same thread. This usually has the cutout so yo can remove it but some don't like the B&W ones. A lens bung works though. I do have on filter where this ring is screwed in the back. The second used to used by BDB who use a two part mounting which screwed togther. The third one is illustrated below. Normally behind but sometimes in front there is a groove in the mount. Once the glass is inserted a piece of spring wire is put in place. Difficult to see sometimes and even harder to remove as the is nothing to purchase on.

it is that 3rd one.
i've seen that before but it took a fourth look with a loupe to spot it now.

is not coming off easily so far.

thanks kim,
joe

well i spoke too soon as it was much easier than expected.

all i needed to do was slip with my small screwdriver and completely shatter the glass. the 3 large pieces came out with ease and the ring is still safely stored in place.
;)joe

That reminds me of the alternative fix for yellow thoriated lenses. :D If it doesn't work, use a bigger hammer! :p

Hello Rob
Is the 85/1.5 sold already? How would you accept payment? PayPal or Int Money Order? Thanks.

Okey dokey...
based on what I have seen on the net i would propose... (in US $)

IVsb body : $150.00 (a little rust stain on the body, otherwise looks good. shutter action seems crisp)

Serenar 50, 1.5: $350.00 (excellent condition with UV filter and Canon 40 mm lens hood, no case for lens)
Serenar 28: 3.5: $175.00 (excellent condition with UV filter , viewfinder and original Canon leather case. The case needs to be restitched.)
Serenar 85: 1.5 $375.00 (excellent condition, with viewfinder and original Canon leather case.
Canon Self timer II with leather case: $??? (Works!)

Now what?
Rob :)
