Beware Infected Ebay Ads that Harvest Log In Info

Apparently Ebay was notified but slow to correct the problem about the infected listings redirecting members to a phony Ebay log in page in order to steal log in info.

I wonder if any Anti-Virus detected the infections - and which did not.

Any IT people care to comment on this ?

It gets worse & worse. I just paid to have all my computers tuned up and placed a service on them that scans them every day.

i remember i went to an ebay auction link www.ebay.com/whatever that lead me to a phony site. i wanted to see the price and i logged in and then realized that it was probably a phishing scam. it happened on my ipad too so it wasn't a "virus" affecting my computer, it was a loophole in their web hosting.

Last week I saw an auction for Nikon D810, by some guy with 0 feedback score, and at some 10 min. later time another auction for another D810, by a person with anagram of first seller's name, and -1 feedback score. I shot ebay email about it being suspicious listing. Never got the reply. At least the buyer is guaranteed refund by ebay.

I received an email, apparently from ebay, confirming my purchase of a an expensive piece of photo gear - something I may have looked at in the past. When I clicked on the 'My account' link in the message, I was directed to a phony URL.

A similar tactic, maybe I looked at the item and that set me up to receive the phishing email.
