Only so for 35mm...with 50, 85 and 135mm there are multiple options in a mount.
And of course, there is always the option to go Sigma.
Did Sigma announce support for fe mount? That would be very good news..

Agree with this when using the "base" A7R, which is why I added the battery grip, which makes the body as tall as or even taller than DSLR's but not quite as fat. I am looking forward to that FE 28mm/2.0.
I have to go what the **** when it comes to those two converters (fisheye and 21) they announced for the new 28 though. I want think if people are going to pay these prices, they want a straight up 21.

No, I was talking about the alpha SLT mount. But I thought I heard rumors that FE mount versions of some Sigma Art lenses will be coming in 2015?
As of now the official word from the Quattro-making guys is that they have no plan to support FE mount in the future...

A grip. Yes. I use one for my Fujis also.
I suppose this is the answer for guys like me.
Still I would like a bigger body with the controls more spread out.
Its no easy task pleasing everyone that's true. The miniaturization of Cameras though.... SOny has always gone a bit too far with the NEX line and now with the A7's as well.
Again.... the A7 s great with a RF size lens... but they don't produce RF size lenses
I searched some images of the FE 55mm. It is a brilliant thing !!
If this distagon 35mm is anything like the FE 55 and/or the Contax Distagon f1.4/35mm .... you all should get your pre-orders in

Big lens announcement was really the correct title. That 35 f1.4 is huge. I don't get Sony why spend all that time to make a small camera then make a bunch of huge lenses. Would it not have been better to release a larger more comfortable camera in the first place, one that is better sized for the future jumbo lenses.
Now I don't mind a large camera. I would like a mirror less D800 then my A7 will be gone. Maybe the A9 will a bit bigger.

Don't think it's going to be an expensive adapter...Looks like something to be picked up and played with, and not intended for serious work.
Anyways my guess is that the next lens announcement will include either a 24mm F2 Zeiss or 21mm F2.8. Sony will want to branch out its premium lens line, and these look like natural choices with ready designs from CZ.

Hope so..but Sony did the same thing w/ the Nex family a 21 and fisheye converter for their 16f2.8 pancake. They never brought out a 14 for it. Given they announced a wide zoom as they did for the Nex line.. Makes me wonder.

Hopefully, an A9 series of E-Mount cameras will sport a larger body, which I would love. Besides, it would be nice to shoot long video segments without overheating.

A larger "A9" has a nice ring to it
I imagine that Sony will go the other direction though and create a smaller EVF on the left body (read RF style
).
Which frankly would be cool for adapting RF lenses if the came with some sort of split PDAF situation like the new fuji implementation.
I still have trouble focusing manually with EVFs and Peaking. It's getting worse not better (my eyes that is).
I have to admit I've been excited about an Auto Focus Distagon 35mm f1.4. This might catch me up eventually. Even though I'm usually at least one to two product cycles behind on adoption.
Looking forward to the reviews and to searching images from that lens on release.
Cheers All

How does a Distagon draw compared to a Sonnar? I quite like the quality of the 35/2.8FE already.
Curious, the new 35 Distagon has an aperture ring with a detent on/off switch (for video I imagine). I wish my 55 Sonnar had an aperture ring. Besides that, the 55 is honestly as large a lens as I want on the A7 body.
Another curiosity is the styling of the 90 Macro FE. Very retro looking. And proper witness marks! You shift the focus ring forward for manual focus (not unlike the Fuji lenses, no?). OSS is welcome here. Surprised the 35 doesn't have it considering that it seems to have a slight video-bent.

It's becoming a trend to make an announcement about a future announcement, which to me is a joke. If your products are not ready to hit the market, don't announce them. Sure I understand they wanna be vocal about their developments, but how is it okay to get into the habit of announcing stuff that are not gonna be ready for another six months?

If they ever make a 24f2.. I will really consider buying it plus whatever the equiv of a7r is around at the time. With 36 plus mp, I can crop up to around a 50-75 fov and still get a decent large print out of it.. It may not have the dof look of a true 50 or 75, but I hardly shoot the type of shots that uses shallow dof look.

Quite so..
But u can't blame the advertising and marketing on this.. If they c consumers react favorable, they are going to do whatever it takes to get that edge over their competitor. If u camera maker takes the first chance and the other guys c that it gave them a boost in product awareness, others are going to start doing the same thing. We only have ourselves to blame IMHO.

I'm glad they announced the 28mm... now I at least know that the lens I've been waiting for is coming (vs. never coming). I'm sure others would agree when it comes to the focal lengths that they are waiting for. 6 months is not a long time... if you don't like rumors or pre-announcements, don't read this stuff. It really is that simple.
