Hello:
I am planning to purchase either an R-D1 or R-D1s. It’s just a matter of finding a good unit (on this site or ebay).
I want my first lens to be as wide as possible without needing to use an external viewfinder. I know that the smallest frame lines on the R-D1 or R-D1s are for a 28mm lens, but I have read in a few places that you can use a 25mm lens and just “shoot” the entire viewfinder. This has me leaning toward a Zeiss Biogon 25mm.
I want to double check to see if anyone out there has actually used this 25mm lens on the R-D1 or R-D1s. Is the situation just “workable” or "close to normal” (with "normal" being how it’d be to use a 28mm lens with the 28mm frame lines)? If it’s just “workable,” I’ll begin pondering 28mm options.
Finally, let me note that I do NOT wear glasses when shooting—as this can have an effect.
Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.
