biogon vs 35 leica pre-asph

I'd like a used 35mm f/2 to go along with my 50mm tabbed summicron, so I can get rid of my SLR when I need a wideangle (got a Nikkor 28/2 Ai). I've been checking some reviews and comparisons. this post proved to be very useful. unfortunately, I don't want to spend so much on a summicron ASPH.

can somebody show me the difference between the biogon and the pre-asph in photos?
a link to the right post or comparison would be great as well. any help is appreciated, since I can't go and try both lenses by myself first.

I'll be using the lens with both BW and slides. Will shoot quite some lowlight, but landscapes and scenery as well. I read the Biogon is more flare resistant, but don't know about other aberrations like field curvature, etc.

dunno about the pre-asph, but the biogon is exceedingly flare reisistant and has a very flat field I suspect (hence every review I have seen awarding it the best corner performance in comparative tests against flat subjects). Edge performance is darned close to the centre even from pretty wide. modern looking but, not insanely so. V high resolution, nice bokeh etc. Much bigger than pre-asph - it is 50 cron sized. great lens, but if you ont need f2 get the 2.8 which is cheaper and far smaller.

The only difference you'll see on the web is the shiny warm coating with the biogon. The IV cron has a melancholy way of rendering I think. The 2nd/3rd are angrier. Never owned a 1st.

My 35mm Biogon f/2 just showed up in the mail. I wish it weren't a raging snowstorm outside but I guess I can take lots of pics inside. I decided against a Summicron because I wanted to buy new and a new Cron was way out of my budget.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, exactly but after reading all the reviews saying how big it is I'm thinking it's just the perfect size without the hood. When I put the hood on it creeps into the 35mm framelines a little too much. I'll probably keep the hood in my camera bag but only take it out when necessary.

I love my Biogon - never used the shade. The lens is very flare resistant. To me the size of the lens is a no-brainer. Especially when compared to a SLR lens. Take the chrome one. It's nicer 😀

After putting the black lens on my black body I kind of wish I had gotten silver. I am so used to the silver J-3 that I have been using for the last few months. I'm sure I'll enoy the "stealthy" black as well, though.

Erwin Puts did not give the zeiss 35/2.0 zm his better rating, not that it matters that much in real life photography.

Have you checked the zeiss c-Biogon 35mm/2.8? Too slow?

Per Erwin Puts: "The C-Biogon is a very interesting lens, and should be a serious candidate wherever a rangefinder user wants a high performance wide angle lens for reportage-type imagery under adverse lighting conditions."

Not sure if this was directed towards me or not, but for me I wanted to buy one 35mm lens and stick with it. I spent a long time on Flickr before deciding what to go with in my budget and came up with the Biogon f/2. I'll know within a couple of rolls if it was a good choice or not.
