Changing your perspective can't be a bad thing, can it? We are talking photography. I've seen some amazing 'drone' photography.
And if its marketable, its marketable. In the end you either get the shots or you don't, whether you're on the ground or a hundred feet up.

It's only a matter of time before one of these things falls out of the sky and hurts or kills someone ... then there will be some serious legislation changes regarding the air space they're allowed into.

I'm not against the technology but currently they are one of the fastest selling gizmos on the planet and some form of control will be required eventually!

I suspect there's a hefty premium for a client whose photographer uses a drone. Right now it's relatively uncommon and used by firms that are aware of their potential liabilities.

When you get thee guy/gal advertising on CL as an all day inexpensive wedding photographer with his hobbyist buddy operating the drone you can be pretty much guarantee problems.

At 400 foot altitude the larger drones may audible but not more so than most ambient sounds. Certainly quieter than the lawn mower down the road.
Most wedding would probably be filmed at much lower altitudes anyway. Ever stop to think that 400' is like a 35 story building? The noise you can hear from the top of that only gets louder when you hear the screams of the person jumping when they near the ground.

I have no issue with drones... just the people using them. 😉 In all seriousness though, I'm afraid that someone is going to do something really stupid with one of these things soon...

The economic driver is likely to be insurance pricing and insurability.

Civil tort liability will be more effective than regulatory oversight.

I believe the groom was "ok" but I would also make the assumption that his noggin was probably, at the very least, bruised. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Cheers,
Dave
