Today is the birthday of photography.
In 1839, 173 years ago the first photo was made using 8 hour long exposure!

Not quite accurate.

The first photographs predate the first public announcements of permanent photos in 1839 by some two decades or so. While the earliest photos faded when exposed to light for viewing, the first permanent photo was taken in 1826, some 13 years before the two independent 1839 announcements of successful processes.
