black and chrome

I'm turning into such a RF geek. That said. How cool would it look to have a chrome body, say a L, with a chrome lens, but a black hood? No viewfinder, just a point-n-shoot sort of. Just a thought.

I use a black hood on a chrome Zorki 3M with chrome Jupiter-8. Looks smart!

Found a pic of an M6 in chrome with balck fittings (lever dials etc) chrome lens black hood.
But I'm sure I've seen one referred to as a "Panda" somewhere. Or was that a Bessa?
Anyway, it did look pretty cool. But it would also stand out like a sore thumb. Which may or may not be the desired result........

You're quite right, Tim. It was a chrome M6 with a black film advance lever, shutter dial, rewind selector lever and rewind knob (see attached pic below). This wasn't a conscious design decision by Leica, but was born out of neccessity - they ran out of chrome parts at the factory. 😱 After the initial batch no-one seems to know if Pandas were intentionally produced or not. It may be that the interest generated by the unusual combination of parts started Leica down the "custom build" slippery slope. 🙄

Hey, I'm gonna use my chrome-with-black-focussing-ring Canon 50/1.8, with a black hood on the black Bessa R - Super-Panda; my Apo-Lanthar is also chrome, and looks kinda obscene on the black R.

BTW, Remy, the Russian panda lens you're thinking about is the 'pre-L/D' Industar-61 that often came with alternating black and chrome parts.
