Black and White Photojournalism - 2013

Interesting. Thanks for the link. There were some interesting effects applied - vignetting etc - which I'm not sure added anything, but there are some good images in that set.

I'd be interested to know what gear he used.

There are a lot of photojournalists who take picture to an agenda, either their own or their newspaper. The Guardian, for all its faults, at least does not pretend to be politically neutral: if you want to present a picture of someone being out of touch/ anachronistic/ weird/looney, use a Holga. It was Time or Newsweek that had an entire photoessay on a Republican candidate that was done by Holga. You can always tell when someone is out of favour from either the photographer or the editor because you get the " nostril shot" :- low angle, up the nostril to make the person as unappealing as possible. It has been this way since the 1930-s

I don't think it's that. The Guardian is quite fond of the Lib Dems mostly, and Paddy Ashdown enjoyed a lot of support from the paper.

But the photos aren't from a Guardian staffer; they're from an independent PJ.

Some nice shots there. The Tory Party Conference is being held in Manchester very soon and Im hoping to get there and maybe get a decent image or too. May I add Im not a Tory Party member, just going for picture opps.
