I have now replaced my M6 classic with two M6TTL bodies. The one thing I love about the M6 classic is the black anodized hot shoe.

I figure it would be pretty easy to remove the hot shoe as it is with any camera so I am willing to send them out to a proper place to have them anodized black.

Any ideas on this? Where to send them? I can't believe that Leica put chrome hot shoes on all there M bodies from the TTL out as they stick out like sore thumbs, the classic ones hold up fine as far as brassing.

Is it a conductivity reason?

I know this sounds really Leicaphile and superficial, but believe me, it is truly about keeping the cameras low key. The classic is awesome for this reason as you can hardly see it in the dark.

Swapping them out would be a no brainer if the serial number were not on them.

Since "it is truly about keeping the cameras low key" I'd just paint it black. What say you?

I am willing to bet I can put small pieces of black gaffers tape on them for now. I have put in a note to DAG to see what he thinks as well. I am willing to bet this would be cheap and easy to do, the hot shoe is just about as easy to remove as the battery cover. I have been doing my own camera maintenance for years so this is old hat.

I plan on keeping these M's indefinitely.

before messing with resale value, find out if they even blow your cover.

They are pretty obvious to me. A hot shoe is a dead give away for a camera. Besides, resale value is a non-issue, these are working rigs that will have hundreds if not thousands of rolls go through them and will not be sold.
