Yep, i got one 😀


*excuse the crapy photo, but i need to give it a proper clean and take some decent shots of it over the weekend. (the white specs are just dust, i cant see any scratches or marks on the camera at all)

I'm so happy with this. Been searcihng around for a while, and finally came across this wonderful example of the mighty Olympus-35 SP 🙂
It also came with a mint original case that i wasnt even expecting, so thats a bonus.
I have a few questions to ask about SP's, but they'll have to wait.. I'm just going to take in its beauty for a little while first hehe 🙂

Azza, If it works as it should you will be pleased. The lens on the SP is good, as are all Olympus RFs. Looks very nice in black. I'm just thinning out my collection and have just parted with a mint black bodied OM-1n MD. Broke my heart to see it go but it wasn't getting used much. I've also got a Oly 35 ECR on the bay at the moment. That too is a good performer having the same lens as the 35RC.

I was just happy i finally found one in such good condition, and at such a good price too.
Everything appears to be working fine on it, so i'll be taking it out to shoot a roll of film during the weekend. I've been looking forward to using this model for a while now.
Just need to find some tech details and a users manual for it. I havent had any luck yet =/
Oh kuvvy, the OM1 sounds damn nice. I wouldnt mind getting one some day. So far i have an OM2, OM2n, and OM2SP all it top condition that i use quite regularly. Still really want an OM1 though, black would be nice 😀

Someone also sells hard copy reprints for the 35SP on eBay for $10.

Here are a couple pictures i took with my homemade light box.
As you can see, i need a bit of practice with this style of photography, but thats a whole other issue 😛

Just ran my first roll through it.
What a brilliant camera. It isnt as compact as some others of the same period, but it just felt so nice, and i love the viewfinder and spot meter button.
Looking forward to getting the roll developed. But considering the fun i had with it today, the prints are just a bonus.
Someone recognised the camera in the street and began to tell me how he had one years ago, he had never seen one in black before so asked to check mine out. I still cant beleive how cheap i got it for.
As you can tell im really pleased my 35-SP and i havent even got the prints back!
I'll go back into the corner now 😛
 
I bought a silver SP from a forum member the other week. It was in wonderul condition, better than i could of imagined. I've now retired my black SP and will be using my silver one from now on.
I took a picture of them together the other day and thought i'd post it up. I've never seen them side by side in a picture before. They're great looking cameras i think 🙂

Now that you have a silver model you will retire the black one? Good gravy man, why would you do that? I have a black Canonet and its silver brother, but I'd much rather have the black one about my neck. I just wanted to know the reasoning behind this odd (to me) decision.

Well basicly, it comes down to the fact that i dont trust myself, haha.
The black one is in literally mint condition and i got it extremely cheap. I'd just be so angry with myself if i dropped or scratched the thing. Or even worse, if i lost it. I'd never be able to get a replacement without paying 10 times what i got mine for. I just dont want to have to think about all that when im out shooting.
I know these cameras dont attract anywhere near the same dollar value as Leicas for example. So its not just money for replacement im concerned about. I just dont like the thought of stuffing something up that is perfect.

Plus i think the silver model is just as attractive as the black (well almost). Its just that the black has that "rarity" about it making it a little more exotic. I'm still happy to walk around with the silver one 🙂

Oh, and the black one will never be fully retired, it'll still come out for special occasions 😉 . The silver will get daily use though.

Well, good luck with it. But this reminds me of my wife who won't wear the jewelry she loves best because she's afraid either she'll lose it or someone will take it. So she keeps it locked away. (shrug)

My black Canonet was already badly scuffed and brassed when I got it, so I'm not afraid it will get damaged. If it were minty, I might behave the same way. So in a way, I do understand. They're both beautiful cameras. Now let's see some of the photos they take!
 
Yeah it sstrange. With cars and other new things im never worried about it getting its first scratch or bump etc. But with old cameras im different..
I have issues =/
 
Nothing wrong with that little beast!
I love cameras that are brassed up and scratched, they look rustic and used and have a nice "feeling" to them. I just cant be the one to put the first scratch on it, haha.
