I used to be into black until a very nice young lady from the local art college told me that the Silver and black metal cameras are so "retro elegant". Not sure what it means but she had beautiful eyes so who am I to doubt her?

yes silver can be elegant too.. exp. for a 1960's camera... compare them here: http://www.taunusreiter.de/Cameras/Zeiss_.html
(the brightline-finder mounted on the "P" isn't a 85mm though...anyone have a spare??)
cheers.. Frank

Black cameras for me are like black cars if they are straight and clean then the look is perfect. If on the other hand they are a bit beat up (like this 7 ) then I would much rather have a clean straight chrome body.
I passed up a lot of brassed Canonet G-III QL-17's before I found a very nice one. While I was looking I was quite happy with one of my other Chrome ones. In fact I like the chrome so well I can't bring myself to sell it. Even though the Black one was one of my LUST cameras.
NOw if you were to wave a Black L-1 in front of me I might over look a bit more wear. Of course if it was a Black L-1 I couldn't even come close to affording it so I guess it would be Moot.

My Red Dot Glows For You
I kid you not, I once saw a black Canon P for $12,000; the current price on the above auction is a bit more reasonable. I like the feel of the Canon 7. Not many people like it because it doesn't have a flash shoe. The rangefinder framelines are nice and bright, and the focusing is just like the Leica M3 in that the viewfinder is yellowish, and the focusing patch is blue. I returned mine because the light meter didn't work, and was advertised as working, but that should not have stopped me (oh well).
