A year or so ago, I received information from Contax (Kyocera) that the GK-54 caps were never made in black. I tried painting a silver GK-54 but it looked like crap so I just use black plastic caps on my black G lenses.

These items were available online until about two or three years ago from B&H and until more recently from German distributors -- but no longer as far as I know. The black GK-54's were always relatively hard to find in the US. On the other hand, a silver GK-54 does stand out on a black lens and makes it less likely that one would leave it on by mistake. The uneven worldwide distribution of Kyocera-made Contax g products always was an issue. Some items, such as black 21mm and 35mm g lenses, were available as limited-production runs in Asia, Germany and Switzerland and only briefly if at all in the US.

Thank you for such an insight.

A few weeks ago, I am able to get a Black G21, used with all the packaging as well as the finder, for just HK$7000. At first I thought it is too expensive but I had get back to the shop on the 2nd day and empty my wallet.

Days ago, I found that Black GK-54 were available from eBay Austria. I have bidded some of them and I am looking forward to have it arrive.

I have seen Black G35, and G35-70 available locally few years ago. Now they are, I believe, only available as used, but not brand new.
