Black Metal 39mm Front Cap

Google is not being my friend on this one. I acquired a genuine satin black 39mm front cap with the purchase of an older summicron lens. Leica logo on front, red felt lining the inside.

Are these rare, hard to come by? It appears to be anodized? (not black paint).

Elmar M 50 comes with one like that. And the 35/2 V4 did as well. Is it lightweight?

When I purchase mu 50 f2 V3 Summicron from (?) years ago it came with the same front cap. Probably was std in the day. Are the new ones plastic?

Not sure. All my caps are either chrome or black plastic. Owned 2 black summicrons v2. Both of them had black plastic caps that fitted over the inverted lens hood.

Both my Pre Asph 35 Lux and 50 Elmar II have the same cap, both around same serial numbers

Got one with my Tele Elmar f4 135mm, and my Elmarit 28mm 2.8 ASPH. Can’t be so rare.

thanks all. yes, it appears to be black anodized aluminum. i think ill hang onto it.
