Black paint Leica iiiF

Hahaha!

thank you very much!!!

...are you teling me i can´t post pictures of the J-8 and the summaron that are in process?

😀

Thank you folks.

I can say that painting it was the easiest part of all!

Dechroming with acid and later on polishing each part were by far the most demanding tasks (18 hours? perhaps)

Experience is all, i´ve done to this day 10 or 12 M´s and this one is my first perfect camera.

At the beginning i painted with some powder coatings, but one day a friend of mine showed me his japanase (can´t recall the name) painted camera and compared my work was primitive to say the best.

I threw away my ideas and started all over to improve my work, finally i can say i´m very happy with the results!

I even painted a J8 and now finishing a summaron for a friend of mine.

Won´t be able to enjoy much of it cos a few seconds ago it was riped out of my hands buy another photog.
But at least it will stay close enough to look at her form time to time.

😉

I would be interested in hearing how you painted it, and with what.

I've painted brass models before but doubt the technique would be hard-wearing enough for a camera.

Hi, the wearing capability depends on how you paint it. In this case i painted it to brass out as you use it, but perfectly can be made to never show brass.

You can paint with anything from car paint to fingernail lacquer or oil paint, it really doesn´t matter.

The crucial point is dechroming preparing the surface and making a layer of paint hard, even and thin to keep engravings sharp to be painted.
