Black Paint M4 starting at $1

people just dont know how to bid, amazing. always bid on the last seconds with the highest youre willing to pay, otherwise youre just making what you want more and more expensive...

Many people bid just for the fun of it. Someone who may have $300 as a max amount to buy "something" may bid early on a new Leica M, knowing that he will be safe. I have sometimes placed a bid of $5 or so, just for fun.

Well, I guess I would be safe bidding $1000 now, ...just for fun!

Well if his prices in the past on site are anything to go by it will not be a bargain. He's always at the top end.

I just checked his site and indeed it's way over the top! well to me it is, pure la la land.
for eu customers it's 4500 euro plus 21% tax =5445 euro!
outside eu its 4500 euro.
I'll watch this one as it will be interesting to see what happens if the bidding stops around the 2500 euro mark. Will it get mysteriously taken off? watch closely!

That ended fast, Most likely got a great offer for it and took it off. Your
right about bidding, there's those who think they bid high in the
beginning that they will win but it's not the case sometimes.

Oh, Shouten is a good dealer, or, I've always had good dealings with them. Often exotic items, sometimes high prices, most of the time fair. They do know their stuff. And I find that prices are very volatile right now.

I couldn't agree more. Okay, so I haven't been looking for a BP M4 with brassing that adds 2k to the asking price but even the more bog standard M6 "classic wetzlar" seem to be on the high side from sellers on thatsite.

I have seen strange things happening with Shouten's listings in the past, however I had no problem at all when bought an expensive lens from them (modern Summicron LTM special edition).

I don't see many bargains on Ebay these days, and can't really understand why someone would pay more on Ebay for the same camera they could purchase from a dealer for less - and get a six month warranty to boot!

Here's a black M4 for £949.00:

I'm guessing though at that price it's either black chrome or a repaint, but could be wrong......

Some basic knowledge of Ebay bidding:
-There is a tool for last secons bidding, so you don`t have to show that you are bidding and don`t unnecessarily rise the amount

-The best way to escape both Ebay and paypal fees is to contact the high bidder and then make a deal and withdraw the item. Not all of this is "legal"...

With present day high Ebay and paypal fees this is understandable.

I think I'd like to see some pictures of that before I got too excited if its only £949.

The biggest problem with using a Leica for me is simply the rising costs; prices being driven up by those who like to collect. I saw a M6 'classic' being advertised by a seller as 1. a version 1 M6 body (technically correct I guess but when added with point 2.........) 2. extremely rare (really???) 3. £1800 (for an old M6.)

I agree. But there are still some deals out there if you search around, and I'm finding that many dealers seem keener to haggle on prices now than they were a while back.
