Black sharkskin post war IIIc question

I just bought a black IIIc. was it painted at the factory? Is it rare? How do i Know if it was painted afterwards? It has a lot of brassing(or peeling paint) Thanks

Thanks for your interest buzzardkid. I am also interested still. I only have a crappy digital and I have never taken still life or any thing else but I may try to take some pics. It seems that every day I take camera out of bag, it shows more brass. the black paint is a bit flaky. It looks like it could be original but it seems they were never made in black, so I dont know.

Oh but they were, read above! Erik has one and I have not yet caught him on owning any non-original Leica, unless it was factory-converted! 😀
