Black tape questions to cover camera markings

I find the whole taping of logos to be somewhat pretentious. If you think you need an invisible camera, you'll find you are out of luck. No such thing. More troubling, you may, in fact, be avoiding establishing rapport with the subject.

Taping your Leica's red dot is like saying you went to school "in Boston," this prompting confused follow ups that enable you to coily reveal upon the audience your crimson affiliations.

I'm not doing it for others. I like my cameras among other things uncluttered in design. When I ordered my Porsche (which I still own), I ticked off the model designation delete option. I wasn't trying to fool anyone that it wasn't a 911; I think the iconic designs are more aesthetically pleasing (to me) without the brand labeling.

Blue Painter's Tape is what I use on my easel to keep blades aligned and for attaching film to spool when bulk loading film, it never leaves a residue on metal or film.

Tape doesn't clutter things, then? Not by drawing attention to differences in texture and reflectivity?

Some people notice some things. Others notice other things. I'd think a badgeless 911 looked weird.

Never had a comment on my M4-2, except maybe "Is that a film camera?" The only camera that got attention was my Oly Pen F, twice I've had people as; "Is that a Leica?"

However, when I tried out my plywood 4X5 snapshot camera in an hour I had 6 or 7 people come up and ask questions. Everyone though it was cool.

Go figure.

Corporate Logos

Corporate Logos

From what car dealers tell me, it's the people who order the entry level cars that usually request "badgelessness". I see a lot of Porche Turbo 911s with such labeling proudly intact on their engine bonnet in the rear. At my workplace are a lot of "executive" level cars, and no one seems to go "badgeless". As for me, I drive a Mercedes E350 4-matic or a Toyota Corolla. All the labels are intact on my cars. If I were to cover them up with black tape, most people would think I'm demented.

The irony is that I see a lot of people in the summer months walking around in cheap T shirts with some corporate logo proudly emblazoned on them, as if they are walking billboards.

I removed the red dot and installed a black dot in its place. You can buy them from DAG. Pretty easy to do. I would not want to tape anything, and I don't mind the M9 on the camera. I am not hiding anything, I just didn't like the red dot.
