Black wire or something else? Need some advice please

Hey guys! I've been lurking around and working on my camera collection, however I'm having a bit of trouble with my newest addition, a konica C35 automatic, I've searched this site and everyone is saying great things about it so I'm keen to get it going....

My main problem is this, a new battery in and the needle works and so does the shutter!

But the shutter will only fire at one speed 😕 which baffles me!
Whether its on auto or on B one speed :bang:

I have read that the black wire often corrodes, but before I jump in and attemp to fix it (I'm fairly sure I can do it) I was wondering if this is the right diagnosis 😕

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thankyou

That may be a little difficult to figure out without more info. But I'll give you a bump to see if any who are more experienced at repair, as especially with that camera, can help you.

I'm thinking its the battery terminal wires, they always seem corroded in old cameras, however i thought if they were buggered then the meter wouldn't work....

I don't know that camera but those copper wires do have a tendency to act as a sacrificial-anode and the first few cm turn to verdigris inside the insulation. The resistance may be too high to power the shutter but still allow the metre to work perhaps
