It’s a very enjoyable process. I started doing mostly Ambrotypes about twelve years ago and did quite a few commercial jobs using the process and sold a lot of images through my galleries. I’ve not done any in a few years but plan to get back in it.
I was using either a 5x7 or 8x10 Deardorffs and a Civil War era Darlit Petzval that barely fit in my 8x10. On smaller images I used an Ajax Petzval and a couple of Rapid Rectilinears including a beautiful Voigtlander from 1880.
