So I stopped by my local photo shop to get some Rodinal... and to my suprise they only had new Agfa Blazinal. Is this just some marketting/copyright issue and it's just renamed Rodinal.. or am I stuck with this new stuff.

I would wait for the product description to be posted; then you can see if it's at least the same type/chemistry as Rodinal.

Here in the states, Rodinal is still available for mail-order; I recently got some from Freestyle and as of a few moments ago they're still listing it on their website.

If your local Henry's has stopped stocking it, perhaps you could mail order until you get the Blazinal issue sorted out...

Funny thing is that if you search for "Rodinal" on the Henry's website, you get the "Blazinal" for results. Looks like a branding strategy. But what an ugly name!

The Ottawa store has it in stock.. why don't you just drop in and check it out?

I placed an order through Henry's a few weeks ago and I added some Rodinal to the order. They sent me an email saying they didn't have any in stock so I'd have to wait. Maybe this is the new name in Canada? Bizarre.

An update:

I spoke with a Henry's salesman today who confirmed that Blazinal is the exact same chemistry as Rodinal.

For anyone in the Mississauga area and is adamant about buying the original Rodinal, the Henry's store there still has two bottles as of yesterday

well, I'll believe it when I can test for myself... no offense to the people at Henry's.. some of them know their stuff, but the last time I asked about developer, the guy behind the counter just kinda stared blankly when I asked about Rodinal, Xtol and HC110... most I've dealt with are just register jockeys... I'm too afraid he's just saying that so we'd buy it... who knows.. maybe AGFA has fed them the line directly.. I'm just crossing my fingers that it's just some new marketting strategy and something hasn't gone horribly wrong with patent rights or something and their just trying to pass this stuff off as the same old Rodinal.

well I picked up the last couple bottles of Rodinal at Henry's just in case.. since I usually use it for 1:100 or 1:200 stand dev.. 3 bottles should last me YEARS :)

Hehe - sounds good... I dug out my old developer tank & related stuff some weeks ago as I want to get into scanned B&W again, and was soooo happy to find an almost full bottle of Rodinal!

Fortunately I can still get D-76 off the shelves of pro stores here in Oslo, but for how long? Good thing I have mixed my own D-76 years ago! ;)
