Hello.
Has anyone ever seen/bought/heard-of such a thing as a body-cap for a Kiev (II, III, 4)? A quick look on google brought up no hits so does this mean that they weren't/aren't produced?
Thanks in advance!
Philip.

They exist for Nikon RF (will fit Kiev and Contax) but they are extremely rare.

I just saw this on Taobao yesterday...
Looks like it's for Contax IIa/IIIa

I tried this for a while. A kodak film canister lid with a Fuji one glued on the front as a "handle". The glue didn't stick but it did work for a while. The kodak cap (the same as the one on the back of the lens) is a friction fit inside the Kiev mount.

Of course if you don't make a front handle for it the only way to get it out is from the back with the shutter on B.

Thanks for all the replies, folks!
Very helpful and interesting.
I think I'll pass on the Contax cap. At $421 it's slightly outside what I'd hoped to pay. And I'm going to want nine of them...
The words 'extremely rare' and 'Nikon RF' when used in close proximity also tends to give an air of foreboding to any sentence.
The film canister lid idea is rather inventive - well done ronnies! - but so far the solution which has most appeal is the Voigt. route. I'll have to look into that.
Thanks again, everyone!

Now that's a clever idea. Thanks.

The more I ponder over Ronnie's approach the more 'legs' it seems to have.
Perhaps using a short length of ribbon affixed firmly to the back (inside) part of the Kodak cap which then gets threaded to the outside - bookmark-like - to leave a pull-tab would work? I'm guessing (and it really is a guess) that the plastic used for the Kodak cap doesn't lend itself to most adhesives?
Ronnie; did you try super-glue type of cement? Why do you think the bond didn't quite last as long as you had hoped?
I do have a small craft-style pop-riveter lying around somewhere. Hmmmm...............
Must give it some more thought!
Cheers, folks!

I was thinking of a small machine screw and washers when you suggested pop rivets. Same church, different pew. I like your rivet idea better, actually; less likely to loosen and end up inside the camera and well suited to capturing a ribbon/handle.
The plastic used for Kodak caps is both soft and flexible. In other words, not ideal for bonding with glue.
