This probably happened in film days, but I have just bought a digital body to go with one of my favorite lenses. The lens in question is the Pentax FA 31 Limited. I kept it after selling off all my Pentax gear, thinking I would get a m43 adapter. But I have never been very happy with lenses using adapters on other systems.

Anyway, Amazon is selling the Pentax K-01 body at $315, so I bought one. It is truly an aquired taste - big, chunky, leisurely autofocus, etc. But it turns out these amazing raw files. We had a nice sunny Christmas morning here in DC, so I dashed out to take a few shots - see one below (although it is hard to judge at this size on the screen).

But the little-ish beast turns out to be a great cold weather camera. Thanks to the big chunky controls, it is easy to use with gloves. Canadians take note...

Not everyone's cup of tea, but worth a flutter at ~$300. It is obviously being phased out, so support will I am sure be minimal in the not-too-distant future.

Cheers, and best wishes for the new year!
