I know. The opportunity cost, at least in terms of money, for all my piercings so far is about equal to that of a used Bessa R. But I think they were worth it.

Clarence

4 tongue bars at £15 each - £60
+ 2 neck bars - £25
+ Belly + lip £15 each - £30
+ about £20 worth of tongue bars (stretcher bars, and funky colour ones)
=Subtotal - £135 + £95 on 2 tattoos
=Total £230 over the past 18months or so

I've probably spent the same amount on camera equipment in the past 4 months or less!

RIGHT!!!

My new baby, a 5th (yep, count em!) tongue bar!

I have a cartilage piercing (top) and three lobe piercings in my left ear, and two lobe piercings in my right. I need to get one more on my right so I'm at least sort of symmetrical.

I've thought about getting a tattoo for YEARS (a stylized wolf most likely) but being as how I've been thinking about it for that long and never done it, I must not want one very badly.

I went with a friend to get his tongue pierced once and that was enough to convince me to never do it. I wanted my navel pierced, but everyone I know who has had it done tells me it never really heals. No thanks.

Wow. 5. That's 5 more than me... Just my ears X2 and my belly button... I toyed with the idea of piercing the eyebrow... or nose... even the labia... but I always seem to chicken out.

Completely Off-topic... anyone I've ever dated with a tongue ring... always seemed to kiss just a little bit better.

*giggles*

funny. back when i had my tongue pierced...it always seemed to make kissing harder, and more "bumpy" for lack of a better word. i won't go into other specifics

Yea these bad boys arent really for aesthetics... heh, we'll leave it there.

Kissing in fine with them, as long as the bars are smaller. A 20mm bar in the side one means my tongue is staying put in my mouth for the next week or two.

My belly piercing never healed properly, which was a shame, I really liked it.. And labia? It'd look great, but your audience will be pretty small really - cant show it off! I like to show off my piercings to people, and if I ever got a genital piercing (which I'm also planning), it'd ruin the fun, cos no-one would be able to see it apart from my better half!

my wife has her navel pierced, and it is fully healed. i think it just takes time on some depending on the location. if you were able to put up w/ the cartilage healing...i think you would be able to tolerate the navel. i had my cartilage pierced once, and all it did was give me problems until i took it out (it never fully healed). i still have scar tissue up there. of course it was like 14 guage or something...so kinda thick to start off with. my nipple took longer than anything to heal, but my tongue healed in no time! of course (with the tongue) it did swell for a week, and that was no fun. i couldn't talk, and naturally it was in college the week of final presentations one year. nice timing, huh?

back when? how's that working out? I mean, I've never let any of my holes in my ears or my belly button grow in... I imagine it's different then what I've heard described?

Mine took a full 3 months before I considered it "healed". I've had it for 10+ years now.

I think it's like anything... completely dependent upon the individual... and the wear/tear one's mid-section goes through...

that was back in college. probably 10-11 years ago. and with the tongue...the hole closed up FAST. like scary fast. i had it pierced for maybe 1.5-2 years, and yet once i took it out...it was closed in probably a week. i think it all depends on location, and how long you've had the piercing. earslobes seem to stay open forever. and the only other ones i've taken out has been eyebrow...and those close fairly quickly too (maybe a couple of weeks).

I cannot imagine letting the tongue close up... and attempting to enjoy food and/or drink.

Question: wouldn't there be a scar in the case of the eyebrow piercing?

as long as you take an eyebrow piercing out before it grows out, you have 2 little dots from the piercing. if it grows out, you have a battle scar.

lips you only have a dot, tongue you have scar tissue, a split-middle effect etc.. hmm my neck bars are like square (4 dots) but I know people who have awful scars from surface piercings. my belly-piercing scar is a really obvious dot

it wasn't a big deal really. my tongue just has a little dot left there. no real scar tissue to speak of. same w/ the eyebrows. i had them both done (at different times) in school and took them out. they healed w/ maybe a very minor little dot on top and bottom. then i got them both repierced maybe 3-4 years ago, and recently took them out (since they were growing out). i let them heal...and again...very minor bumps. i plan on getting them both repierced here soon (the only reason i took them out this last time was to start anew). the only piercing that left a large amount of scar tissue was the top of my ear. i assume if i took my nipple ring out...that would too (or it would never close up). but that's staying in for good!

I just had a Little Shop of Horrors moment... the original with Jack Nicholson... *giggles*

I have a tattoo on the small of my back... a monarch butterfly... about the size of a Canadian $2 coin, aka toonie. I've had it since I was 19. A couple of years ago I had to have it retouched... time and tanning had faded some of the black/orange/brown/white... Funny thing was, when I got it retouched it hurt like H-E-double hockey sticks! ...moreso than when I initially got it done. Then again, I had drank a 5th of Jack Daniels prior to getting it done initially. *giggles again*
