Bolivia anyone?

Looks like it would be really interesting place to photograph. I'd love to get to explore central america more.

Well, the brakes of the Toyota Land cruisers do not hold up very well. We drove three days over the salar de Uyuni and the highland south of it in one with ALL brakes not working. The driver didn't bother to tell us in advance, we found it out after having nearly an accident.

Photographically absolutely stunning.

Bolivia was the center of the coca trade until the Columbian cartel muscled in. Proceed with caution.

Its an amazing place, and it is really huge. I don´t remember the exact size, but the salt lake is something like 100 km of diameter. Wonderful.

I found Bolivia pretty safe if you stay at the tourist areas, specially around Uyuni, which is pretty small. Don´t expect a lot of comfort though. Coca is pretty common in Los Andes, people usually makes tea from coca leaves... very nice and it helps with the altitude (>4000 meters above sea level).

It's a great place -- I was there last year. In some ways it's stuck in a time-warp. If you go, don't miss the old silver mine at Potosi (not recommended if you get altitude sickness).
