Book 2 Deadline Closing in Fast!!!

We need to help Chris, his lab is charging ridiculous rates.

I am not in Canada so did not immediately volunteer, but if he wants to send the negative(s) to me, I'll be happy to scan them to disk and send them back for just the cost of the mail.

These would be 4000dpi scans on a Nikon LS8000. 13 bit scans will be a bit over 120mb each for 35mm but I can scan at 8 bit for smaller files (60mb or so) if he likes.

I will send them in this weekend as I have just came back from a Mission trip to the Karen people in Northern Thailand. I am physically drained but spiritually charged! I did not know a 65 years old Karen pastor could out walk me in the mountains! Not to mention valuable photographs that I have taken of pride and dignity in adversity! I have yet to see such faith and generiosity in poverty. A villager actually offered us his family's dinner when we put up a night in his humble hut!

PS Folks,

Can I ask a question? My two pics were each about 1.5mb files in JPEG format. I "sized" them down to the required dimensions from 65mb TIFF files. I'm a total neophite with PS. Did I make them too small?

Please advise while there is still time for me to send in properly sized replacements!

Thanks,
George

Depends on the amount of compression you applied, George. Mine wound up about 2 MB each using maximum quality JPEG in PS Elements. Sounds like you're in the ballpark.

Sent descriptions, bio and two shots yesterday. Hope they arrived and are up to specs.

Richard, the only flaw in our planning is that we have taken this on during the holidays. The RFF gmail box has 30 new messages and we have not had the time in this joyous season to crack them open.

I will do so as soon as I can. And I am looking forward to another successful project.

Keep them coming guys, we are not loosing anything, and have our eyes and hearts on this stuff.

For me, after the first my work will be almost dead. We have a large book of business which we are working on and wrapping up for the new term. Once that is done....... well, I get paid for a little while to hang out at the proverbial water cooler. Not really, but I will be in a big dip in work load. Things will get rocking really strong again in March for me. By then this should be well on its way to completion.

Hi Rover,

Just sent you the submission for RFF 2. Please send me a reply if you have received it.

Regards,
Peter

This was the worst bout of procrastination I've ever had! 😉
Well, my two photos alongwith info and bio statement have been sent - I have a feeling that perhaps I was too verbose with the image descriptions and bio statement.

Cheers,

So far, no worries.

I figure that so long as you get it in by 11:59:60* PM on Dec. 31, 2005 they will grade us on a curve and the worst we can get is a "C"!!!

* This is a "leap second" year - we all get an extra second!!! 😀
