Dyer's: "On Going Moment" is an exceptionally good book. It is thought provoking and makes one look at photography and photographers in a different light. It is also of recent vintage and readily available in libraries and book stores.

Although I would very much prefer discussing pictures in books to talking about words about pictures in books, of the books so far, I'd go for Dyer's: "On Going Moment" or "Ways of Seeing" by John Berger.
But, if I'm not too late to make a suggestion, I'd like to offer any book by Freidlander or Martin Parr.
