I'm relocating from philly to boston, and I was wondering what and where some of the better camera shops are? The ritz that i've been in so far are terrible, at least for film selection. Thanks...

Hunts is a big one. They have a decent selection and the ethics of a Philadelphia lawyer.

Depends what you are looking for..... Hunts Photo is well know in Melrose. Horrible service, but a large store. Prices are so-so, B&H via mail order is much better. In fact, some of Hunts mail order is cheaper than their in-store pricing.
Zeff's is another decent choice - less gear, but better service, good selection of film.
New England Photo in Arlington has great collectible gear, but his prices are stuck in the year 1999 when prices peaked. Great leica stuff, but priced insanely.
Newtonville Camera is a good choice....eclectic place, good service....

Newtonville Camera is newly redesigned and much better laid out than the old store. Newtonville's old camera sales manager, Mike Bard, has gone into partnership to buy EP Levine's in the docks area. Tremendous store but the new ownership appears to be continuing the old policy of not opening on Saturdays.

The places I've been to are Calument in Cambridge (right near the Galleria Mall), Bromfield Camera on Bromfield St. (near Park Street), E. P. Levine on Drydock Ave. and a few Ritzs.
Ritz is for digital folks and tourists but good if you need a quick roll of B&W (TMAX, BW400CN, Ilford HP somethingorother.) They do 1 hour(-ish) C-41 so they're good when I want to test a new camera.
E.P. Levine had lots of film and other bits, but their used stuff was kind of junky. Without a car E.P. Levine is a loooooooooooooong walk.
Bromfield is okay but mostly digital. Their used stuff is pretty junky, too. Not that much film, either.
Calumet has been the best for me so far. Good location, nice folks and plenty of camera bits & bobs around.

. . .
The Silver Line goes fairly clost to EP Levine. And it's only about a 10 - 15 min walk from the World Trade center Silver Line stop.

Colortek is right across from South Station on Atlantic. Or try Dorian Labs in Arlington (8:30 - 5:00 M-F only).

Another plug to all you Boston guys, we are having a summer meet in the North End next weekend - the 25th. Take a look at the thread and tell us if you can come (in the thread):
