I just picked up a Bessa R from lazyhammock. (Thanks Nick. Nice to buy in person and not worry.) So now I have a modern RF camera with none of the built in excuses of my MF folders and FSU cameras. I may have to take some worthwhile pictures.

At the moment, my planned kit will consist of:
21mm color skopar
35mm color skopar
50mm FSU (not a FL I love)
75mm heliar (I want to check out the 90mm f3.5 before I commit here).

I want the 35mm first, so if you have a black classic laying about unused and unloved, let me know.

Hi, Steve!

I've had my R for a couple weeks, which came with the 35/2.5 Skopar. Neat package. A couple days ago, I bought the 75/2.5 Heliar. Now it's an even NEATER package. You're gonna like this machine...

Best!
Don

Until I can get those together, I'll have to make due with a few FSU lenses. The J9 is on it right now. I'll get a rolll through tomorrow to test out how well they do on the R.

KEH, has skopar 35mm lenses for $172 and $179 rated e- I think.
Does anyone think I'll be able to beat that?

Agreed. What a nice kit: R, 35, 75!!! Ideal for travel and having no excuses for not having it with you all the time.

Steve,

I have both the 75 & the 90. They are both great lenses and are an excellent value. I have to say I use the 75mm more than the 90, but I hope I never have to choose one over the other.

Best Regards,

Bob

My biggest concern with the 90mm is the f3.5 speed. I'm afraid the dof just won't be narrow enough for portrait shots...though I'd prefer the longer fl.

I've got exactly the same set with my R (with several FSU 50s), plus a 15mm, and I love it - I think you've made a very good choice there.

How do you like them? Do you favor one over the other?

coming from the darkside [SLRs with BIG lenses] I just cannot get close enough😀

I have not played with the 90 yet I plan on going out with both and shooting same shots with both lenses to compare.

most of my rangefinder shooting has been 21-35mm

I will be doing some "portrait" work with my #2 son head shots of his blond dreadlocks😱

when developed I will post them

I snapped a few shots this afternoon. More to go with that roll. Dang Christmas season is eating my life. 🙂

I liked the feel well enough. I could wish it were quieter...but the meter and framelines sure make it an easier shooter than the FSUs.
If I get spoiled, I'll end up looking for a R3A...have to be careful.
