wonderfull camera deserve to be used, you are lucky with this mint specimen, and yes never saw such a mint 2.8F before with the box (silly collector thing...)

Dude, the case without the strap if you can find one is about $175. Than add a strap to the cost. And you got caps and the original box. Just reading an essay on the Rolleiflex. Writer was comparing Rollei 2.8 F to the Rollei 2.8 G. He felt the F was better. Never mind the debate. The camera you bought in that condition is more than a user. It is probably the greatest TLR ever made and as such you understand why he asked if you intended to use it or just display it.

Congratulations on getting such a fine camera in such fine condition. Since you've had a Rolleiflex before you must realize that this is a camera you will keep the rest of your lifetime, so reselling at a profit is out of the question. Enjoy your good fortune and enjoy your new camera!
Since you are a student and money is tight, you could satisfy some collector by selling off the packaging. It's not like you are going to use it.

What an awesome idea. I am totally getting one of those LowePro lens cases for my 2.8F. I tried a large chalk bag, but it's kind of a tight squeeze and makes me nervous.
Thanks!

Isn't it coffee time ?
Would absolutely recomend the lowepro case, works fine, fits the F with case, some spare film, a hoood and it looks like my Weston V lightmeter (in the mail from UK) would fit well too.
Thanks for the idea FrankS, did not think of that before, just wondering who would buy such item

That's quite a find. You could sell it to a collector for quite a profit and buy yourself a less mint example to shoot with. You may even make a little money on the deal. That's a pretty rare example you got there.
A word of caution:
Watch out for those old leather straps. They have a tendency to suddenly snap, even if they look like they are new.
Seriously, don't take the risk. If the camera drops it will be history. Once the focus track is bent you're SOL.

Sounds a bit scary about the old straps, did not use a rollei strap on the first planar, think i just took a Nikon yellow something. . not so classy but comfy
The strap i have now is like new, probably because it is not used ever before i put it on the camera .. but so fare so good.
Might think of a plan b later.

Or send the strap clips to Luigi and have him make you one of his beautiful custom straps for Rollei.

One must take certain precautions regarding it. Specifically, one must not let the flex near bright light, especially sunlight, which can kill the flex; one must not get water on the flex; and, most importantly, one must never feed the flexes after midnight.

My word, it IS scary...
To handle such a beautiful machine without damaging it. Too much stress for me.
That's why I always buy my cameras in used or beater condition. That way, any scratches adds to the "class" of the camera.

I'm afraid it's like a new car. You're just going to have to get your first scratch in it before you can relax and really enjoy it. Don't sell it-use it for the rest of your life!

Hehe, the camera is still not for sale, even thou some more cash would have been nice, but when the payment for the RD-1 and the 28mm the rollei is safe.
Bought a some rolls of XP-2 and BW400CN a time ago, so as soon as it stops raining here in Trondheim i´m out for a walkabout. A TLR in the rain still does not sound like a good idea

Congrats on your great new camera. I bought an excellent condition 2.8F for very little money a couple of years ago and decided to sell it for the profit and reinvest in camera equipment. It was the worst decision I ever made (next to that fat girl in college). Don't ever sell it.

Thanks for the respond, photos taken with the camera and probably some of the camera too is coming soon, but it has been raining a lot here in Trondheim, and I still don´t believe rain and rolleiflexes blends well
The weather-forecast for tomorrow says cold weather (bellow 0 degrees C, and it´s still late autumn here) so i´ll go for a walk tomorrow with the rollei and my Weston Master V.
vha
Edit : And guess about the weather today, it´s raining , even raining upwards in some periods, even not suitable for my beaten Nikon FM.
Bummer, then I have to clean the apartment then
