Boxing with a Leica M Part 2 - Ringside

Holy smokes, Nick. Photos look great. The first frame you've posted here is especially good. Real nice work!

I LOVE them for their 'Representation of Reality'
tres cool... has a Cinematic , 3d Lush 'Feel'

but then If I judge them re: Clarity, OOF & tonal Range they Fall short...
Less Organic... A Very Processed 'feel' to the Photo,
less Real in look but still Captivating, pulsating with Pure Emotion

there is nothing wrong with that...This is The Future of Modern Photography

I would Title the series: ' A Ringside View...'
Great Work Nick !

You mean Muay Thai right? And with some Western regulation, I see shin protections... They didn't perform any Wai Khru or you didn't photogrpah it? There is no Muay Thai without Wai Khru. Nice pictures.

Great stuff, I enjoyed these much more than the first bunch (that isn't a criticism, just these are really really good).

Wow, impressive ! Thanks for sharing, Nick.

@Helen : The MM files give you all the freedom to tweak them to your personal preference.
I agree, these are very contrasty but then I personally think, it suits the topic well.

Nice set! It does not put the M in a good light (given the style you went for), but the eye of the photographer is first rate!

Dear Klaus
I think You misunderstand Me
I have no issues with The 'Contrast, in fact I Adore Rich inky blacks... hi contrast
Overall I felt the Photos were indeed Sublime in Capturing Atmosphere & Emotion.

Depending on the way i Viewed the Set, sometimes I felt the Crisp Clarity was a tad smeary-blurry cept for the obvious 3d pop on the Areas Nick focused on...
I don't think its a PP issue per se just a 'Digital Look' , thats all

Best - H

Yeah I think the photos, content wise, are great! First shot is definitely the shot and the way it straddles the two very different emotional spaces both boxers occupy is solid.

I don't care for the digital look one bit though. Plastic, too much contrast, lacking in texture and dimensionality.

Think they are great moments captured.
Great viewpoints. Extraordinary compositions.
Fixed position, limited range. Very descriptive.

These pictures are not from the MM but from the M240/M10, I think? The output from the Leica Monochrom looks different imo.

That said, I like the content a lot. Amazing that you got so close to the action, in the ring as well as (and maybe more so) out of the ring. They give a real sense of the whole world of sweat, fear, pain and expectations surrounding the fights.
