Hey guys!
I bought a Canonet QL17 off of ebay, after 2 days of nervous waiting, I finally managed to take it out today and grab a couple of street shots.
This was just a test roll to check the exposures. I don't have a battery so I was guessing at exposures, a bit of a steep learning curve!
Any ways, C&C would be appreciated!

Not sure how to upload more than 3 in one go...

Cheers Dan

With any older Japanese camera the first thing to check is the light sealing foam around the back door. It is often sticky/crumbly and needs to be replaced. Otherwise the GIII is a fine picture taker by all accounts and the moving viewfinder frame is quite hi tech for a fixed lens RF.

The QL17 has some of the messiest foam on the planet. And I've found that the deteriorating foam often causes any paint or satin chrome finish that it touches to degrade.

Otherwise, it's an excellent camera. Very well built with controls where you expect them to be.

You can use a hearing-aid battery to power the meter.

The viewfinder is large and bright and has framelines that adjust for parallax as you focus.

I like mine also but it defintely needs new seals, which have turned to goo. I suspect contact with lens coatings might also cause damage.

GWT,
I'm using some very cheap (£1 for 36 exp) Agfa Vista plus. I converted a couple of the shots to B&W as I didnt think they needed the colour.
Yeah I have checked the seals and they all appear to be healthy and fine. Still to get some batteries, as I am quite enjoying the Manual exposing.
Has anyone else got any pictures with it to share?
Cheers Guys.
