It looks to be the same scanner as the Pacific Image PF 120 which is $500 cheaper.
The reviews on that one have been very mixed. One person on this site had to crack open the case of his brand new one to repair banding.
edit - this was for the PF120, not the Braun. The link provided by Harry below indicates that the Braun is NOT the same as the PF, but better and faster.

I haven't had any issue with mine. Scans are very good it was a little tricky to install as I remember, but I haven't had an issue since then. The help desk was surprisingly romaine even though they are in Germany.
