Braun F900 Pro Flash Unit Charger

I came across an ancient beast of a flash for just a few bucks this weekend at a thrift store and decided to buy it. Unfortunately the NiCads are dead, and even worse, there is no charger. Dead batteries I could probably find a replacement for, but the charger is another issue. I've searched high and low on google and haven't been able to come up with anyone selling a charger.

Does anyone have any experience with these units and have any idea about how I might be able to get it up and running again? I'd be willing to DIY since I didn't really pay that much for it.

i have the F800 flash, and replaced the batteries with enough rechargable cells to equal the original voltage. i have the original charger, but you should be able to use a generic charger with the right capacity. the flash is a good one when it's up and running, with narrow, wide angle and full or half charge to give you a range of f-stops. if you need a second lamp unit, maybe i can unearth one here.

When you say enough rechargeable cells do you mean that you used standard "C" cell rechargeable batteries that you remove and charge in a battery charger, or did you rig up a new battery pack and use something like a car charger to charge the batteries?

I appreciate your help and yes I think I would be interested in a second lamp if I can get this battery pack working working.

I do have one of these beasts since 1977. I brought it from East Africa in 1985 and it is in working condition, with a leather case for the power pack, as well as the charger. Works well. Am trying to sell it.

i didn't see your question or other posts and thought the thread had died.

yes, i used rechargable nicad battery cells (c or d, whichever fit) and wired them to get the correct voltage. i charged the flash with the standard braun charger.

i've also seen some sealed lead acid batteries which might be interesting. there was a lead-acid pack available as a factory option.

i'll open the box and see if i have a spare lamp head.

I do have a Braun F900 in full working condition since 1977, with the power pack, charger and leather case for the power pack. Trying to sell this beast. I am in Toronto.
