Hi,

I found and bought one of these a while ago. I can see it's a 35mm film P&S with a 35-70 zoom lens and I've worked out which battery it needs but does any one know anything else abut it?

Even the basic specification would be useful.

Regards, David

It is a re-branded Samsung
...
I have the Maxima Zoom 70i, it has a very good lens.

Always nice to see competent people around! I thought it reminds Samsung but I'm at work now so didn't investigate into.

If Maxima Zoom is same as Vega on other markets then it's known by it's Schneider lens.

People love to bash Samsung but I see many good products made by them. Cameras - film and digital (eh, I mean post-Pentax lines), HDD's...sure list can be continued.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

I've spent the last couple of days looking at all the old P&S's in the heap and the nearest to it is the Konica 7-up range. Mainly from the type of battery cover, zoom control and the processor.

Top one is the Konica 7-up 110 Zoom, middle is the Braum and below is the Samsung Slim Zoom 70-S.

The processor moves a little triangular mark along a row of symbols on the body on both. But the similarities with any camera are few and far between. Hence my question.

I am thinking that the photo that I found claiming to be the Braun Trend Zoom 70s was mislabeled, as it looks nothing like yours. There is another Braun compact that is the exact duplicate of the Samsung AF-Mini, so I thought that perhaps Braun sold other Samsungs as well, but none of my Samsung cameras have that zoom toggle.

If the front of yours looks like this, though:

that "round face" styling is very reminiscent of the Samsung Maxima and ECX lines.

I've noticed on Butkus' site that most off-brand compacts that he has are lumped into the Chinon sub-directory. Maybe he knows something that we don't?

From your pics, it looks like Konica and Samsung had a child, and they named it Braun.

Hi,

The fronts look like this:-

and add to the mystery. I wondered about Cosina and all the other makers we've probably never heard of. That sub-contractor for lenses in Germany f'instance that I read about once in connection with the Leica Summicron-C yars ago...

BTW, there's a 35-70 zoom version (or two) of the Konica. Often seen on ebay

As for 7-up, well, um, I know it's Z-up but once I'd thought it looked like 7-up I was doomed to type it that way forever.
