Bresson Vid On YouTube

Thanks for the link. Yes, the captions are in Korean (which I don't know, alas). It's an attractive little collage. I like the six-second video clip at 4:19 to 4:25 showing how quickly he winds his knob-wind camera. I couldn't tell what the camera is, though -- maybe a Leica I-something with a sports finder? Or am I way off?

it is the rare black paint IIIg.
only 125 were made for the Swedish army in 1960.
how HCB got one is a story in itself.

pesphoto,

Thanks for the link.

About half of the way in HCB is shown stepping into a crowd
taking pictures. I was struck by how he seemed taller than
the crowd & I thought, this gave him a little bit of a natural
advantage. Not discounting his genius, just observing.

Yup, I was way off! Here's the frame that fooled me, by the way. Perhaps that's an external finder, though I know of HCB's strong preference for the normal lens.

with the IIIg and the M Leicas, he seemed to have used the external finder less often, with the other LTM Leicas and the bottomloader Canon, the external finder is always present.

The video briefly features what looks a lot like a FED-5 specimen. Now, could that be..?

Years ago I read a magazine (remember those?!) article featuring an interview with Joel Meyerowitz. He and another aspiring HC-B acolyte were taking a breather from street shooting and standing a couple floors up in an abandoned building chatting and watching people pass.

They suddenly spied a tall man in a raincoat striding through the crowds repeatedly and very quickly lifting and lowering a camera that was strapped to his wrist. Both men immediately thought the same thing -- it's him -- HCB!

They scrambled down to the street and gave chase until they caught up with the man and introduced themselves. HC-B was relatively friendly and offered good advice in response to their questions before bidding them "Adieu" and going back to work, disappearing into the crowds.

I'd like to find the original article because my memory is able only to paraphrase the original.

Scott: If you ever find the article, let us know; I for one would pay for a copy.

Meyerowitz was here at Eastman House on 11/30 for a lecture. My job requires me to work late the last business day of the month, so I couldn't go. Major bummer.

Was this video done for a TV channel? Or just some personal project? The shot of the black Leica M with the external polarizer finder I think was stolen from the Robert White website.. Unless Robert White got it from another source too....
