First of all these were taken on an evil SLR, and a digital at that
For anyone not familiar with drifting it is a form of motorsport that originated in Japan and involves taking corners at high speed, sideways! It involves initiating oversteer and keeping the car balanced - too little throttle and the car straightens, too much and it spins. Points are generally awarded on things like angle of corner entry, amount of smoke produced and style. Having tried it at a few beginner days I can say it is really not easy!
Anyway...
Drifting uses lots of tyres. A mobile tyre fitter is on hand and there's a constant stream of people replacing rear tyres.
It's pretty hard on the cars so it's common for emergency repairs to take place in the pits. I would have liked to get more of the welding in action but didn't want to get in the way.
One of the UK's best drifters - Phil Morrison's car. Vignetting caused by lens hood (oops)
A sunny day at Llandow racetrack.
Spectator..
Lots of smoke produced by Shane Lynch's car..
More tyre smoke from Polo of 'Team Green'
The marshall's chair
The marshall's chair again (occupied this time)
I was there to enjoy spectating and to show my son the cars so I wasn't 100% dedicated to the photography. I think I got a few nice shots though.

I think maybe I should have put these in the SLR forum (and posted smaller versions)... ?

I agree that colour works well for the cars while one track but I still like the B&W versions of the 'around & about' pics.
I did process a few in colour..

The best camera is one that still works!
I agree that colour works much better here!
