Broken Bessa R2M on my vacation!

I am on vacation in Florence, and soon going to Rome. I dropped my Bessa R2M while eating one day and since then the picture counter has not been working. When I load rolls, and release the shutter and advance the film, everything goes just as it should. But the dial does not move, it has stayed on S. What does this mean? How can I fix it? Do you think my film is actually not advancing once I close the door? Thanks.

If the rewind knob is turning then you know the film is advancing!

Just tighten the rewind crank gentlely (without depressing the rewind button!) and if the crank turns as u wind the film then the film should be advancing properly.

Sorry about your accident, but I'm sure you can have the counter fixed when you get home.

Is the rangefinder OK? It may need an adjustment.

The rewind crank does not turn as film is advanced.

But the axle in the middle of it does turn so that's what he needs to look at, not the whole rewind crank.

i guess it's even worth five minutes of shooting with the lens cap on, to see if you get to the end of the roll or not.

I know the film is advancing, as I have loaded rolls and kept the door open to see if the film was advancing. I have shot with it without the working counter, and I do reach the end of the rolls. So I guess everything is fine. I just don't really understand the inner-mechanics of a camera, and how the counter and rewind are connected. I was curious to see if the repair would be something I could easily do. Thanks.
