Broken film inside camera

I guess it just has to happen once to a film user. :bang:

I used my Horizon 202 for four years, and now, I make the mistake of forcing the last frame. Before I knew how stupid I was, the film broke.

I am in Boston now. Can anyone recommend a shop that can help me? It is surprising how photo shops here have gone almost completely digital. I don't own a car so it better be close to the T. Many thanks.

Dang. What a pain- sorry to hear about this. What kind of film is it? The problem is that most C41 labs load film directly from the canister into the machine in daylight. If it's black and white or E6, it can be rolled directly out of the camera onto processing spools and then it's business as usual. Otherwise, it may have to be re-loaded into a film can. Either way, I'd suggest you get a light-tight tank, open the camera in the dark, and remove the film yourself. But I assume you don't process your own film, and don't have the facilities to remove the film yourself (otherwise, you wouldn't need to ask this?). So who does your film processing? Ask them to help you. If you send your film out, you might be stuck, but if you take it to a local lab can they help? Have you tried this yet? I imagine they would at least offer some suggestions. Any place that does film processing should be able to deal with this. If all else fails, a cheap film loading darkbag and tank will at least get you moving. Good luck.

I would use a loading bag or under the covers in your bedroom at night.
If the canister comes apart, retape the film to the spool, rewind it and put the canister back together. If not, in a light tight can and take it to a local lab.
Bummer!

I taped a roll to the spool and the tape caused all kinds of havoc on the developing machine and the photo dude scratched the hell out of the roll digging it out of the machine. Watch out for that.
