Well I dropped my old used SF20 flash yesterday on the sidewalk :bang: . Now it no longer fires from the hot shoe, only from the test button. I don't suppose its worth fixing is it? 😕 Probably some broken wires or other contacts. I suppose I'll upgrade to an SF24D for my compact flash needs: rolleyes:.

If it fires from the test button correctly, then it is reparable!

My guess is that the camera actually only makes a connection between the central contact and the side contact.
So before you bin it, open it an put in two wires from the test buttom to the hot-shoe contact (and test it on a very cheap camera).

Erf, Mad-boy, I dunno. Externally, nothing appears broken, but the bugger doesn't work! It's a TTL Flash, and I like that function, but I don't want to jury-rig downgrade it to Auto/Manual only. I'll think about it, and maybe I can figure out how to open it to see if something obvious is wrong with the shoe wires. I guess it can't hurt to look, since no warranty applies to it (bought second hand). Maybe I'll get lucky and see a loose wire or something easily fixed.

I've got a Metz 54MZ that I also use TTL, but it's heavier and more complex, so sometimes I want a simple, small alternative.
