Broken up at the Great Park

Swung by the Great Park in Irvine California yesterday. It's located at the former El Toro Airforce Base. Pretty fun little place to shoot. Used the Polaroid 600SE for the first time in who know how long to play around with. Ahh, the joys of breaking out one's light meter to take a picture.

What film did you use for this -- maybe a stupid question? Don't know the Polaroid 600SE, but I thougth all of the Polaroid film was "dead."

Not at all. I used the Fuji FP3000 peel apart films. Both were shot at f/64. The 600SE is a massive camera along the lines of the Mamiya Press. Mine has a 127mm f/4.7 lens on it. It makes beautiful pictures when you get the settings right...which I'm working on.

Thanks -- interesting. Does the camera take the 3x4 or the 4x5 version of this film (that seem to be the sizes available online)?

Nice photos, by the way. ISO 3000 film in daylight -- now I get the f64 (not a matter of choice, but a necessity with an old leaf shutter)...

Pretty cool pics, is that a left over hangar in the second pic?
BTW, El Toro was a "Marine Corps" air base, I don't think the Airforce had alot to do with it. I was stationed there for a few years.

Ooh, thank you for the correction 🙂 I think I equate the runways and hangars with the AF. There are quite a few left over hangars actually. Some have been converted to food banks, community gardens, I think some are going to be artists spaces. It is supposed to be a massive park when its done.
My 600SE takes the 3x4time film but I was able to snag a graphlex adapter so in theory I can shoot 4x5 but haven't tried it yet. The adapter also let's me use 120 film on it. Versatile little camera 🙂

Not sure if this is of interest to you but El Toro was the site of the largest pinhole photo taken a few years back, they used one of those hangars as the camera: http://www.alternativephotography.com/wp/photographers/the-worlds-largest-pinhole-photograph

El Toro was also the location of VMA 214 (to whom I was attached), the "Black Sheep" squadron, famous during WWII and of television fame.

I am thinking about using the Fuji FP3000 and my modified Polaroid 110B for available light indoor photos.
Did you ever tried this ?

Take that bad boy into an indoor event or party.
The FP-3000B creates lovely portraits without flash.

I've shot quite a few using Fuji 3000B with my 'modified' 110B...

This is the negative side, cleared with bleach and water.

My favorite fuji pack film is the 100a, it to has a negative side that can be cleared with household bleach and water with good results...

The 600se isn't just along the lines of the Mamiya Press...it's the same camera with different badges and lens/back mount.

Wonderful machines. I'm just about to send mine off for service.

I have shot the 3000B indoors with both the 600se and an automatic Land camera, and find it's superb. Wonderful tones, awesome sharpness.

Can you tell us a little more about how you use household bleach and water to clear these? Fuji 100 Instant film, right?

I'm a big fan of Fuji Instant film. It's just fun stuff to shoot.

My favorite fuji pack film is the 100a, it to has a negative side that can be cleared with household bleach and water with good results...
