I'd say you got a heck of a deal. I looked at the Bronica before I got a Mamiya 645, and it's a really appealing camera with its leaf-shutter lenses.

Nice find!

Good price. KEH is a good place to buy prisms and extra backs. UGLY grade backs are sometimes as cheap as $10. I replace the seals myself.

It came!

Managed to run a roll of Ektachrome 100 through it (the ektachrome seems very sensitive to even the slightest underexposure...lost a few shots because of that.)

But! I love it! MF has just so much "pop" and details. Its mind blowing!

A few samples from the "kit" lens (Zenzanon 75mm 2.8)

I've been tempted many times by deals on these cameras. I may give in yet.
The mirror is a bit loud.

I do think you got a smokin' good deal for that much good kit.

That is true, if i have any thing to complain about, the mirror slap is incredibly loud. It makes my Ikon sound like...nothing really. The ikon goes *click* while the Bronica goes *PIAK*.

Lockup on the mirror???

Lockup on the mirror???

I thought the ETRS had mirror lockup. That was the biggest feature added to the ETRS OR the ETRSi. If you like the Bronica ETR series, then get a tripod and get a mirror lockup body. You'll increase the sharpness two ways... stabilize with the tripod and eliminate mirror shake.

I've used a number of the Bronica's because they were a bit lighter than the Mamiya 645 systems and the leaf shutters. Both relatively equal on Image Quality.

I bought a lot of pieces from the seller Shutterblade on eBay. They used to have a lot of Bronica in their inventory.

Great price by the way, and the pics look good. Look that body over for the MLU, or check out another later body, if my recollection is correct. The Mirror Lockup is the best final feature of this line.

Thanks for the headsup Kuzano. I'll go download the manual on PDF format from Tamron's website just to ascertain the MLU function.

Call me weird, but i plan to use the Bronica mostly for street shots, lol.

It's a workable street camera, but I would

I would encourage you to get the waist level finder. The waist level gives you a less obtrusive "street" configuration. That's a pretty big camera to point at somebody on eye level. I used a waist level, since you are looking down at the top of the camera, people tend not to notice you as much.

I did just look at Shutterblade on eBay. They have two ETRSi bodies on Buy It Now for $99.95, which is a good deal. I'm pretty sure now that it was the ETRSi that added the MLU.

Good shooting. Still a nice kit. You can even get (Really have to watch for it though) a 35mm film back that rolls sideways offering a panoramic 35mm format. I've seen them a few times on eBay. That's a "trick" addition to the system. I had one for a while and it's almost the same format at the 35mm format in the Hasselblad pano camera, but for a ton less money.

If only i can find the AEII Prism for cheap.....

Still better, get the AEIII - it has a spot meter, too!

The MLU and TTL flash was added in the ETRSi, but nonetheless the ETRS is a great camera. I will wait until I see the mirror slap in my pictures, before I exchange it for an ETRSi.

You have a great set - enjoy!

Michael

Geat Price!I think Ill have to go dig out my neglected ETRSI a go do some shooting. These camera were really underated. The lens are very sharp.Great photos buy the way.

Managed to get a Metered prism for it today.

I'm loving this baby. It now has AE and works exactly like a 35mm SLR!

Some shots ( i metered these myself..and quite a few came out under..had to edit some of them)

I have had an ETRS kit for a while and I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that it is just not right for me. Not enough to put it up in the classifieds or on eBay - yet. Couple of bodies and backs, AEII prism, speed grip, four lenses - it makes a heavy package. If someone were interested in making an offer, they might be able to get a better deal than they would on eBay.
